Our educational sessions
Our sessions support KS1 and KS2, early years and special educational needs (SEN).
We focus on national history and local history. We also support British values, design, literacy and science.

You can contact us to talk about your requirements, or fill in our online enquiry form to make a provisional booking:
Accessibility and learning styles
Our sessions appeal to a combination of learning styles including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Children will hear staff talk about the subject and are encouraged to ask and answer questions. They will have the chance to try hands-on activities using tools of the leather trade.
We encourage teachers and parents/carers to work with us to make sure we pitch our sessions at the right learning age.

The standard of our work is accredited, and we have twice won the Sandford Award for excellence in museum education.

“ The pupils have thoroughly enjoyed working with the fantastic skilled adults who led the day. They were completely focussed and engaged in the activity, which was broken down into small steps, enabling all the children to achieve. Some children who find it extremely difficult to focus on activities for more than 10 minutes have been completely engrossed. “
“ The Leather Museum has provided us with a range of sessions related to topics relevant to our curriculum. David has also played a part in the development of our curriculum, keen to build in children a pride of Walsall. We have had a focus on relating as many of our curriculum topics as possible to the local area and the Leather Museum has been instrumental in that. Sessions included reenactments of Sister Dora and also a Suffragettes session where children were immersed in the history of the topics. The children enjoyed the opportunity to dress in various costumes and all sessions have been of a very high quality and enjoyed by both children and staff. “
