The Stonegate and Trent Park estates are proposed to be taken off the list of ‘contaminated land’ in the Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council area.

The move comes after further environmental investigations ordered by the Council, following the result of a Public Inquiry

The estate, built in the 1970s on the site of the former Willenhall Gasworks, was formally designated as contaminated by the Council in 2012.

A new initiative to reduce fly-tipping will begin on Saturday 19 January as Walsall Council places free skips in community locations around the borough. The initiative is a part of the Council’s ongoing campaign to ‘put waste in its place’ and reduce the levels of fly-tipping across the borough.
