Housing renewal assistance policy 2026 - 2030: 1. Introduction - 10.2 Land charging mandatory DFGs

Land charging mandatory DFGs was introduced in Walsall on 1 March 2010 in line with Government regulations. This has helped the council ‘recycle’ funding for other new applications. A limited charge on adapted properties of owner occupiers is applied where the property is sold or otherwise disposed of within 10 years of the grant works being completed and where the cost of the DFG exceeds

£5,000. The limit of the maximum charge is set by Government and is currently, £10,000. The next table gives examples of grants and the respective charges.
