BCTG Skills training offers nationally recognised plastering qualifications aimed at ensuring our students have the skills and knowledge to build a successful career within the construction sector.
Level 2 Diploma in Plastering
Designed for those not currently in work but who are committed to a career in plastering, this theoretical and practical course will develop your plastering skills and is the minimum standard required to obtain work on a UK construction site.
NVQ Level 2 Plastering
For students already working in (or planning to work in) the plastering profession. This qualification is based solely on the work you do on site with examples forming the basis of your portfolio.
Some of the units you will complete are:
- moving, handling and storing resources
- producing internal solid plastering finishes
- producing external solid render finishes
- installing direct bond dry linings
NVQ Level 3 Plastering
A Level 3 qualification involves complex skills and can be used as a pathway to assessing, supervisory and management positions.
Some of the units you will complete are:
- conserving, restoring or repairing fibrous plaster work
- working on conservation and restoration projects
- confirming the occupational method of working

BCTG Skills training offers nationally recognised bricklaying qualifications aimed at ensuring our students are competent in their trade and highly employable.
Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork
Aimed at those not yet working in construction who may have previous experience or knowledge. This course includes a practical assessment to test the application of building methods and construction technology.
NVQ Level 2 Trowel Occupations (Brickwork)
This qualification is based solely on site in the chosen trade area. You will produce an NVQ portfolio based on the work you complete whilst in employment.
Some of the units you will complete are:
- conforming to general safety in the workplace
- conforming to efficient working practices in the workplace
- moving and handling resources in the workplace
- erecting masonry structures in the workplace
NVQ Level 3 Trowel Occupations (Brickwork)
A Level 3 qualification involves complex skills and can be used as a pathway to assessing, supervisory and management positions.
Some of the units you will complete are:
- confirm the occupational method of work
- set out complex masonry structures
- repair and maintain masonry structures
- place and finish non-specialist concrete

Working in retrofit means becoming a sustainability guru – delivering consultations over the phone and via email, providing customer support and advice to people and organisations going through (or considering) the process of making their buildings more eco-friendly.

Eligibility criteria
You must:
- be aged 18+

- have lived in the UK/EEA for three years
- have the legal right to work and live in the UK

This 11 day course is running in partnership with Stadium. They are an event management specialist who currently have 700 vacancies. It is aimed at anyone who is:
- aged 50+
- currently unemployed and in need of a helping hand to return to work
There are guaranteed interviews. You will get the opportunity to meet with the employer to hear about the available opportunities.

Our Civil Service SWAP is aimed at aspiring public servants who are aged 19 and above.
This programme will empower learners with the essential knowledge and skills required to begin a career in the Civil Service. In addition you will work towards a Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring which will support developing your skills and knowledge to enable you to effectively gain work in a range of occupational sectors, where you will support others to achieve their goals.
It will aim to strengthen and develop skills required to create stronger teams that enable individuals and their organisations to grow. The qualification can assist you into a wide variety of roles, in a range of settings whilst also providing you with a skill set that can enhance your career development into supervisory and management roles.
How the course is structured:
- A sector specific on-boarding task
- Civil Service application support and guidance

- Information, advice and guidance with CV support
