​​This paid work experience placement is for 12 weeks and available to 18- to 21-year-olds who live in Walsall and are inactive from the job market. 

The business is a local manufacturing business within the leather industry​ 

​​The placement will support the day-to-day running of our warehouse and operational areas. The candidate will assist with picking customer orders using stock sheets, checking product availability, and preparing items for dispatch. They will help restock shelves from storage locations, retrieve stock as required, and support general stock organisation to keep the warehouse running efficiently.

​The role will also involve assisting with quality checks, helping locate stock, and supporting ongoing improvement projects such as sorting and organising products. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe workspace is an important part of the role, and the candidate will help ensure warehouse areas remain well organised and compliant with health and safety standards.

​Depending on capability and confidence, the candidate may also support with handling product samples, preparing items for agents or customers, and helping maintain the presentation of our sample and showroom areas. 

​This placement is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in a real working environment. The candidate will work as part of a team, follow processes, and gain valuable skills in organisation, accuracy, communication, and workplace responsibility. Informal training and guidance will be provided throughout, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who is motivated, reliable, and keen to learn. 

Monday to Friday

37.5 hours per week

• Assist with general site preparation and clean-up tasks
• Move and handle materials, tools, and equipment as required
• Support tradespeople and site management with basic tasks and duties
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
• Help set up and dismantle temporary structures, barriers, and signage
• Operate basic site tools and equipment under supervision
• Perform routine inspections to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs
• Comply with all site-specific rules and procedures

• Strong work ethic with a proactive attitude
• Physically fit and capable of manual labour
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions accurately
• Awareness of site health, safety, and environmental practices
• Team player with good communication skills
• Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card is essential
• Basic understanding of construction processes and site operations
• Full Driving License

The IT Systems Assistant supports the day-to-day operation and improvement of company systems. The role helps ensure systems run reliably, data remains accurate, and ecommerce platforms operate effectively. 

Working closely with the Technology Manager, the role assists with maintaining internal systems, supporting digital platforms, and helping deliver technology improvements across the business.

Systems & Operations

• Support the day-to-day running of company systems and digital platforms
• Help ensure systems operate reliably and consistently
• Work with internal teams and external providers to resolve system issues

Data & Platform Integrity

• Maintain accurate and well-structured data across ERP, ecommerce and connected systems
• Prepare and organise data for reporting and analysis
• Support improvements to data quality and system usage

E-Commerce & Digital Support

• Support the ongoing maintenance of ecommerce platforms and related systems
• Assist with testing system changes and updates
• Help identify improvements that enhance customer experience and efficiency

Automation & Technology Development

• Assist with automation and AI initiatives
• Help evaluate tools and processes that improve efficiency
• Document processes and outcomes when new tools are introduced

Tasks include:

• Washing/chopping/slicing/dicing/ trimming/portioning meats/sharpening knives/keeping kitchen equipment clean and measuring ingredients and ensuring everything is ready before cooking.
• Some basic cooking tasks such as blanching vegetables and making sauces and stocks, garnishes and marinades as per recipes.

Safety, Health and Environmental Excellence
Work closely with the regional compliance, health and safety team on all compliance matters.
Take an active role in improving the safety culture and ensuring that the the Safety Rules and SHE programs, policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
Use performance KPIs and audits to measure and improve performance and compliance.
Accountable for effective management of Change (MOC) including compliance in the Facility Change Notification (FCN).
Lead crisis management and provide immediate leadership to assist with the control of the crisis and its recovery to normal operations once a crisis is contained. 
Team
Recruit and develop the new plant team.
Driving a high-performance and inclusive culture by ensuring the right talent is recruited, in the right roles, and is delivering high quality results. 
Ensure that the training and development of staff is conducted in an efficient and timely manner, including ensuring any mandatory training or role-required training is completed and documented.
