  • be able to work from 7am to 11am / 6:00pm to 10:30pm (choose either shift or both) ideally over a 6 day working week to include some part of the weekend, or every other Saturday and Sunday

Purpose of the role

To support customers with all aspects of their day to day living, so they can enjoy the best possible quality of life. You will mostly work alone with the customer in their home. Providing care and support offers many rewards, but can also be challenging. Compassion, good communication skills and a calm and caring manner are essential for this important role in our company. 

Key responsibilities

To provide safe, reliable, compassionate care and support to meet the individual needs and wishes of each customer.  Each person is unique. You must respect each customers’ choice about how their care and support is given and promote their dignity at all times. 

You may be the only person the customer sees over a period of time, it is therefore essential to report any changes or causes for concern to your line manager promptly. You need to be clear about when to seek help and advice in order to keep customers safe and promote their well-being.

Carefully listen and observe how each customer prefers their care and support to be delivered on a day to day basis. Help them make their own decisions so they can be as independent as possible.

  • Ability and willingness to follow Bluebird Care’s policies, procedures and instructions and to participate in relevant training

Additional requirements:

  • All staff are expected to meet regulatory training standards. Care assistants must attend initial induction training with Bluebird Care before providing care and support to our customers.
  • During the first 12 weeks you will continue to receive on the job and classroom based training to help you fully understand your role. You must be willing to participate in ongoing training so you can continue to give good and safe care and support.
  • You will need to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service formally known as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) 
  • Class 1 business insurance and current MOT (if using own car for business purposes)

The Support Worker will:

  • Promote the interests of customers at all times advocating for health and social care needs.
  • Comply with all professional, regulatory, organizational policies to support best practice care standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in learning disabilities
  • Happy to undertake training
  • QCF level 2 or 3 or be happy to complete it.

Key Work Functions:

  • Provide a high standard of customer care based on evidence-based practice with reference to Bluebird Care policies and procedures

High complex packages available:

  • 1st vacancy: 8.30am- 5pm Monday to Friday
  • 2nd vacancy: 8am-10pm 3 days a week

All ages are welcome to apply, it is never too late to retrain in one of the oldest known professions.

As an apprentice you will be guided through all aspects of the industry. The course will include some off the job training as well as learn as you go.

Throughout the course the successful candidate will become a licenced slaughter person, expert in animal welfare, and be instilled with sufficient skills to dress multi-species carcases to a high standard.

This along with all of the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours to successfully pass the ‘End Point Assessment’ and become a fully qualified slaughter person. Hours and rates of pay to be negotiated. Abattoir role is based in Cheslyn Hay Initially 30 hours per week and £NMW.

All ages will be considered to learn this sought-after skill set.

The apprenticeship will include full training in both the practical, and theory aspects of modern-day butchery with mainly hands on, but also some off the job training.

This along with all of the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours to successfully pass the ‘End Point Assessment’ and become a fully qualified butcher. Hours and rates of pay to be negotiated. Initially 30 hours per week and £NMW.

The Butchery role is based in Walsall.

Job Specification:

Duties:

Initially, your duties will involve accompanying our experienced Pool Service Engineers on a daily basis to various locations in Midlands area. You will be assisting with pool services which includes servicing equipment, vacuuming, netting pools, replacing plant equipment and testing the water chemistry.

Once you are fully trained you will have access to van and will be required to work independently servicing on many sites across the Midlands and beyond.

You will also be assisting our other Pool Engineers with pool servicing, repairs, renovations and new builds.

Requirements: 

You will need to be reasonably fit as you may be carrying equipment to and from sites. You must be keen to learn, eager to please and able to work the long hours when required.  You will be expected to demonstrate good communication skills. You must show an interest in pools, plumbing, filtration or electrics and be talented with your hands and at DIY. You will preferably need to be comfortable about being around pets and not have allergies as that may affect your ability to access customers’ property.  You must be able to swim.

We work on school sites, so we would need to carry out a enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to check your criminal record for this position.

Hours of work:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

You may have the opportunity to work longer than the 40 hours per week.

  • A full UK driving licence.

A candidate with a MOT testing qualification is desirable but this is not essential. However, we are also recruiting a current qualified MOT tester also.

A candidate with a diagnostics and electrical expertise is desirable but this is not essential

A candidate with NVQ Level 2 upwards Vehicle Technician qualification is preferred, however if you are competent in all aspects of service, diagnostics, and repair this is also accepted.

Working pattern:

· Mon-Friday: 8:30am-5:30pm

· 1 in 2 Saturday’s: 8:30am-12:30pm

About the Laundry Assistant role

The company operates Monday to Friday (occasional Saturday during busier periods) We operate between 8am and 4pm (during busier periods it may be necessary to start earlier or finish later, advance notice will be given) We are offering an initial 30 hours per work.
