Delivering social value for the people of Walsall

Social value measures the positive value businesses create for our economy, communities, people and society.  Through the Walsall Works Partner Awards, we recognise and reward the contribution of local businesses and partner organisations who share our aims and objectives to reduce inequalities and to improve the lives of Walsall residents.

A quality mark for social value

By winning an award, it shows a firm commitment to Walsall people and demonstrates social value is embedded in your day-to-day work. The awards, at Bronze, Silver and Gold, stand as a quality mark for the level of  engagement with the local community and the commitment to support our most vulnerable people.

Our criteria

Each business or partner should demonstrate initiatives and activities in these important areas:

  • Creating and sustaining employment for local people
  • Helping local people to increase their skills and improve their employability
  • Supporting vulnerable residents to improve their health and economic wellbeing
  • Creating more opportunities for local companies through supply chains
  • Helping local schools to raise aspiration and improve educational attainment
  • Supporting community-managed facilities and developing community initiatives
  • Increasing diversity and inclusivity in the workplace
  • Reducing carbon footprint and tackling climate change

Our award winners

We have made awards to small, medium and large businesses who have demonstrated innovative approaches or how they routinely create positive outcomes for residents.  Ours winners include key employers such as Barhale, AF Blakemore, Midcounties Cooperative, Lovell, ZF Lemforder and Walsall College.

Becoming a Walsall Works partner

We will launch an annual awards process on our website and social media channels. To become a partner, you will be asked to complete an application form which demonstrates your approach to social value and any specific positive action schemes that meet the important areas above.

Creating more value

While you may have been already active in social value, we are happy to help facilitate further commitments and match you with the right organisations to help you realise your social value aims.
