Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is is a charge which can be used by local authorities on new development in their area. It is an important tool to help deliver the infrastructure needed to support development.

There is currently no CIL charging scheme in Walsall. We suspended the preparation work on CIL in 2017.

You can find out more about why we did not progress in the CIL charging scheme in the Cabinet agreement for suspension (March 2017) and Cabinet Report on pre-submission modifications (July 2016).

We have retained the evidence we had prepared below as it still forms part of the Local Plan evidence base.
