Vaccinations
Keeping up to date with vaccinations is the best protection against COVID-19. It is never too late to come forward. People who are vaccinated against COVID-19 are less likely to be seriously ill, die, or spread the virus to other people.
Anyone over the age of 5 years can get a 1st and 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at any time.
Some people, including those aged 50 years or over, those at higher risk or who are pregnant, and frontline health and social care workers, will be offered a seasonal booster (autumn booster).
You can:
- visit a walk-in site to get your vaccine – with no appointment ID, GP registration, NHS number or immigration status needed.
- book an appointment online
- book an appointment by phoning 119
There are more details about booster vaccinations on the NHS website. You can find out more about the Walsall vaccination programme on the NHS Black Country ICB website.
Covid-19 booster dose and flu vaccine
Some people who can get a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are also eligible for the annual flu vaccine. If you are offered both vaccines, it's safe to have them at the same time. Find out more about the flu vaccine
Accessing Covid-19 vaccinations and treatment without an NHS number
There are no immigration checks and you do not need an NHS number or GP registration to get treated or vaccinated for Covid-19.
You do not need an NHS number or GP registration to receive the Covid-19 vaccination and you are still entitled to a free vaccination without them. You can go to a walk-in vaccination centre or contact a GP practice and ask to book your Covid-19 vaccination appointments as an unregistered patient.
You will never be forced to have the Covid-19 vaccine and it does not affect your asylum or refugee status. You can find out more in the government's Covid-19: Migrant’s health guide.
Information in other formats
The Government also has a range of COVID-19 vaccination information in easy-read formats, accessible versions and in community languages to ensure that everyone in the community is kept up to date with COVID-19 guidance and advice.
A British Sign Language (BSL) video based on the easy-read leaflet on 'COVID-19 vaccination for women who might get pregnant, who are pregnant or are breastfeeding their baby' is available to download. An audio version of this leaflet is available to download and there is also a Braille version available to order.
