Consultation on the Great Barr Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan
Under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, local planning authorities must review their conservation areas. We must publish proposals to preserve and enhance them.
Why the conservation area appraisal and management plan (CAAMP) is important
The CAAMP:
- identifies what’s special about the conservation areas
- tells us what buildings and features are important, and should be preserved and enhanced
- tells us where there are buildings or features that do not fit in with the rest of the conservation area
- helps us to know what the threats to the conservation area are and suggests ways that these can be tackled
The CAAMP looks at the current conservation area and identifies different character areas within it. The key features of the conservation area relate to Great Barr Hall and its parkland. Some of the character areas have little significance to this.
