Walsall's Health, Wellbeing and Care Consultation

Walsall Council and its partners are planning how health, care and support will work in Walsall over the next few years. We are asking for your views on three draft strategies/plans.

  • Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2026-2030)
The Walsall Joint Local Health & Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWBS) 2026-2030 focuses on seven themes, each with a set of priority areas that support people through life. The themes and priorities in the JLHWBS are aligned to the four ambitions in the ‘Pursuing Excellence: Our Council Plan 2025-2029’ and the ‘We Are Walsall 2040 Strategy’.

  • Neighbourhood Health and Care Plan
The Neighbourhood Health and Care Plan 2026-2027 explains how health, council and community services will work together in local neighbourhoods to create healthier communities, helping people of all ages live healthy, active and independent lives. It also aims to deliver more integrated, preventative and accessible care closer to home through collaborative work with partners locally. Neighbourhood Health is a key feature of the 10-year Health Plan for England, with our local draft Neighbourhood Health and Care Plan contributing to delivery against our JLHWBS priorities.

  • Adult Social Care Strategy (2026-2031)
The Adult Social Care Strategy 2026-2031 sets out how adult social care in Walsall will support independence, dignity and wellbeing, now and in the future through helping people stay independent and putting people at the centre of their care and making support easier. It also focuses on keeping people safe and treating them with respect, supporting family and friends who play a role in care and making sure good care is available now and in the future.

The local plans have been shaped to ensure they address the factors that influence people’s health at every stage of life - from early years and adolescence, through adulthood and working age, to older adulthood. The Life-Course approach ensures that each life stage receives the right focus, support and preventative action. Collectively, the three plans have one shared goal, as together, they set out how health, care and support will improve in Walsall over the coming years.

Together, these plans are about:

  • Helping people stay healthy
  • Making support easier to get
  • Making sure services work well together
  • Focusing on what matters to people
