Alumwell Road Road Safety Scheme
Walsall Council has responsibility for road safety. We review road collisions involving injury on an annual basis. Alumwell Road has been identified as a poor performing route with increasing public anxiety regarding road safety and inappropriate vehicle speeds. There have been 9 collisions in the last 3 years that have resulted in injury.
Proposals have been developed to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle speeds along Alumwell Road. The scheme includes additional road safety measures designed to create a safer and more pedestrian friendly environment.
- It is proposed to introduce additional traffic calming measures to include speed cushions along Alumwell Road, in addition to the existing speed cushions currently present
- The existing speed cushions will be replaced to meet current specification
- The existing pedestrian crossing on Alumwell Road will be raised. This raised crossing will act as effective traffic calming feature, encouraging drivers to reduce their speed on approach.
