Rough Sleepers

Emergency Severe Weather Provision for Rough Sleepers
Walsall Council, together with a range of partners (Police, Fire, and the voluntary sector) operates a
Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP)
for rough sleepers during periods of extreme weather.
Hi’s N Lows based at The Glebe Centre are running this on behalf of the partnership.
The aim of the severe weather provision is to:
prevent loss of life
To reduce the incidence of rough sleeping to as near zero as possible.

The service is provided every year offering a 'sit up and stay' provision, funded by the Council and provided by a voluntary sector partner.
It opens from 8pm until 8am weekdays and weekends,
when the wind chill and/or temperatures are forecast to drop below 0 degrees celcius for two consecutive nights or more.
Those using the provision get somewhere warm to stay, supper/breakfast and help to access other services as appropriate including housing, health and benefits.
For more information regarding the services we offer and the help available to rough sleepers please contact Julie Jones, Service Manager for Supported Housing on 01922 655412 or email jonesjulie@walsall.gov.uk
Update: The Shelter will be open Sunday 14th February and Monday 15th February 2016 from 8pm to 8am. Further updates will follow
