Road safety improvements - A4148 Broadway and Broadway West
The A4148 Broadway/Broadway West was recently assessed as a low scoring two star route (one is poor, five is good). Records indicate there have been ten collisions involving injury along the route in the last three years.
To address the number of collisions on this route we will:
- install central hatching to narrow the carriageway
- install bolt down islands (refuges) to prevent inappropriate over taking
- replace and upgrade the electronic number plate recognition (ANPR)/speed limit indication signs
- upgrade the traffic controlled pedestrian crossing near West Bromwich Road. The carriageway on the westbound side of the crossing will be narrowed to one lane.
You can view a detailed plan for the improvements. The files may not be suitable for users of assistive technology. Contact the road safety team if you use assistive technology and need a version of the document in a more accessible format. We can provide you with an accessible version, or (in the case of maps and drawings) arrange to talk to you to explain the contents.
