Housing allocations policy - The requirement to inform the Council of a change in housing circumstances

It is the responsibility of the applicant to inform the Council of a change of circumstances and, where requested, provide proof of the change. Notification of a change in circumstances should be done without undue delay and within 3 weeks of the change. Examples of a change in circumstances include but are not limited to:
- any confirmed pregnancy
- any member of the family or any other person on the application form who has left the accommodation currently in occupation
- any changes of name or address, for either themselves or members of their respective household
- any additions to the household (proof of residence and identification will be required)
- any significant change in income which is likely to have a material effect on the application
- a change in status of accommodation (e.g. Notice to Quit)
- a change in an applicant’s medical situation
- a change in immigration status
If a change in circumstances is not reported in a timely manner, the effective registration date may be amended.
If an applicant has changed address a Change of Circumstance Form should be completed immediately. The date of application will be that of the first application (when it was accepted by the Council). The level of housing need and corresponding banding placement may be adjusted to reflect the details outlined in the new application (See also Section E/3 below).
Where a Housing Register entry is amended following receipt of a notification of change, the Council will inform the applicant in writing of any changes in banding placement etc.
