Walsall stands at a pivotal moment in its history. As we look towards 2040, our borough faces both significant challenges and exciting opportunities. The need for high-quality, affordable and sustainable homes has never been greater. Our communities are growing and evolving, shaped by rich diversity, changing demographics and the ambition of residents to create a borough where everyone can thrive.

This Housing Strategy sets out a bold vision for Walsall’s future. It is rooted in the principles of inclusivity, resilience and partnership. Developed through comprehensive analysis and extensive engagement with residents, partners and stakeholders, the strategy provides a clear roadmap to deliver the homes and communities our borough needs.

We recognise that good housing is about much more than bricks and mortar. It is the foundation for health, wellbeing and opportunity. Our approach integrates housing with regeneration, social care, health and economic growth, ensuring that every resident, regardless of background or circumstance, can access a safe, secure and high-quality home.

We are proud of what we have achieved since 2020, from unlocking new housing supply and raising standards to investing in energy efficiency and supporting our most vulnerable residents. Yet we know there is much more to do. The targets we set are ambitious, reflecting the scale of need and the aspirations of our communities.

Delivering this strategy will require strong leadership, innovative thinking and, above all, collaboration.
