Before you apply for planning permission, we recommend that you get advice. There is a charge for this.
Pre-application advice
Our pre-application advice service will:
- tell you if your application is likely to be accepted
- suggest changes to give your application the best chance of success
- tell you what forms and documents you’ll need to make your application valid
- tell you what policies we are likely to apply to the application
It can’t guarantee that your application will be approved.
Development team pre-application meeting
We also offer a meeting with our development team. This includes meeting technical officers and specialists. We will:
- advise you about what to include in your application
- identify any potential planning constraints and the impact they may have
- discuss possible conditions or legal agreements that you’ll need
- clarify policies and issues specific to your site
- provide written feedback

Upload your documents
Show contentYou’ll need to have the following documents ready to upload:
- a site location plan
- proposed sketches to show the design principles and layouts
- details of buildings, sheds, trees, and existing uses
- photographs to describe the existing site/building
- existing details or sketches (optional)

Send your application
Show contentComplete your form, attach your documents, and email the whole application to PlanningServices@walsall.gov.uk

Pay the fee
Show contentYou’ll need to check the cost of the service you’re buying, and make a note of the relevant reference code. You can find this in the 'charge reference code' column in the fees document.
We accept payment by card over the phone.
