- conservation areas and the buildings within them
Past grant funding
When there has been grant funding in the past, buildings and areas covered by funding were chosen on their historic merits and their importance in the street-scene.

Building materials
Repairs to protected buildings require quality workmanship the use of appropriate materials.
When working on older buildings, you must use traditional materials such as:
- Welsh roofing slate
- lime mortars
- cast iron rainwater goods
These traditional materials are better quality than many modern substitutes, such as UPVC. They are also more suitable for historic buildings.
