Corporation Wood and the Towers Covert

Bourne Vale Corporation Wood and Tower's Court mainly consist of larch with beech, rowan, oak, rhododendron and holly with alders in the wetter areas. The ground flora is mainly bramble, bent grass, creeping soft grass, bracken, nettles, foxglove and cleavers. There is a pool present at Corporation Wood, which adds to the site's diversity. There is an area in this wood that has been replanted with saplings, that are mainly deciduous but some pines are present.

Activity centre

The site is used as an activity centre and has good amenity value. However, its use has greatly eroded the ground flora throughout much of the area.

Management recommendations

At present trees are lopped or felled if they become dangerous. An area has been fenced off and planted with tree species thus allowing recovery of the ground flora. It would be advisable to do this on rotation.
