Street trading

Street trading provides a valuable service to our residents and visitors. All streets within the borough of Walsall are designated as “consent streets”. This means that you need to get street trading consent before you can sell goods or food in the borough on/in any:

  • road
  • path or footway
  • area accessible to the public without payment, including private land

This can include, for example, selling hot food from vans parked in lay-bys or industrial estates, or ice cream from mobile vans.

If you don’t, you’ll be committing an offence. You could be fined up to £1,000.

All permits must be renewed after 31 March each year.

Eligibility

You can apply for street trading consent if you are aged 17 or over.
