This review is a legal requirement under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, which aims to ensure that voting remains easy and accessible for everyone following recent changes to ward boundaries.

Last year, a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission led to a change in the ward boundaries in Walsall. The borough still has 20 wards and three councillors per ward.

These new boundaries will be in effect for the local elections on 7 May 2026, where all 60 seats will be contested. Residents can review the outcome of the ward boundary review at: http://lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/walsall

“ This is an important opportunity for residents to have their say on where they will cast their vote in future elections.

We want to ensure that every polling place is convenient, accessible, and aligned with the new ward boundaries. Your feedback will help us make the best decisions for our community, and I urge everyone to take a few minutes to share their views. “

Emma Bennett, Acting Returning Officer and Chief Executive of Walsall Council

The consultation starts on Monday 9 June 2025 and ends midnight on Saturday 20 July 2025.

Residents are welcome to comment on the council’s proposed polling arrangements. Feedback from residents will inform the most appropriate polling districts and polling places.
