Get ready for the summer! What’s on in Walsall for children and families

What’s on over the Summer in Walsall.

It’s that time of year again, when the kids are ready to break up from school for the summer and families are looking for fun activities to get stuck into.

From arts and crafts activities at the New Art Gallery to the free splash pads located at three of our green spaces, Walsall Council offers a number of activities to keep children active and entertained over the summer period.

Walsall leisure

So much is on offer at our Leisure centres that your family will be spoilt for choice! As well as swimming, there is roller skating, racket sports, gymnastic camps and Acti-kids sessions. Find out more at Walsall Leisure

Parks and green spaces

There are three splash pads in Walsall, offering free water play from 11 am – 5 pm (weather dependent) these are located at Walsall Arboretum, Willenhall Memorial Park and King George V Playing Fields. Walsall also has a number of parks equipped with a variety of play equipment and sporting facilities, more information can be found on our website: Parks and green spaces.

The New Art Gallery

Located by the waterfront in Walsall town centre, the New Art Gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sundays 12 pm – 4 pm. Entry to the various art exhibitions is free and the NAG also runs a variety of activities including Mini Makers and Wednesdays For All, where people can pay a small fee to participate in a variety of arts and crafts activities. Walsall Libraries and Archives

Lichfield Street hub and the district libraries offer a range of activities from reading clubs to baby and toddler groups. Walsall Leather Museum

Another attraction in Walsall that is free to enter is the Walsall Leather Museum. A family-friendly day out with several summer holiday activities available for a small fee, including Have a Go Leathercraft every Tuesday through August. Walsall HAF programme

The Walsall Holiday and Food programme (HAF) is provided by Walsall Right 4 Children, working with over 50 local providers. The HAF programme is for children and young people aged 5 to 16 years who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals or on a plan. Children, young people and their families are able to access free activities during the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays. There are a wide range of opportunities in the summer offer.
