The formal Notice of Election was published on Friday 31 May 2024. In order to vote, residents must be on the electoral register and, if they are voting in a polling station, have a valid form of Voter ID. With the deadline fast approaching, Walsall Council is urging residents who have not registered at their current address to make sure they are registered in time. The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024.

To register to vote, apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Residents can also apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote (appointing someone to vote on their behalf). The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. For further information, or to make an application for a postal or proxy vote, visit https://www.gov.uk/vote-uk-election.

“ Time is running out to make sure you can vote in the General Election. Registering to vote means you can have a say on who is your local MP. If you have turned 18, or if you have moved home recently, it’s particularly important that you act now to ensure you are registered. “

Emma Bennett, Acting Returning Officer and Chief Executive
Walsall Council

Residents who were eligible to vote in the Local Elections in May 2024 and whose details have not changed will still be registered to vote. If in doubt, residents can check their details by giving the Election Office a call on 01922 652502 or emailing electionoffice@walsall.gov.uk.

Poll cards began to be delivered to registered electors from Wednesday 5 June 2024. Residents do not need their poll card to be able to vote.

There are 122 polling stations across the borough. Visit the national postcode finder at https://wheredoivote.co.uk/ to check the location of your polling station.

If you have not received a poll card by Friday 14 June 2024, and wish to check that you are registered, please contact the Election Office.

Residents who have registered for a postal vote will normally get their ballot papers between 5 to 10 days before the date of the General Election.
