Upcoming elections and legal notices

Local government elections

The next local government election will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026.

This will be an all‑out election, which means all 60 council seats will be up for election. Each of Walsall’s 20 wards has three councillors, meaning you can vote for up to three candidates.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

You must:

  • be registered to vote
  • show an accepted form of photo ID

If you've recently moved or turned 18, you may not be registered. You can register to vote until midnight on 20 April 2026.

Find out about accepted forms of ID or apply for a voter authority certificate.

Poll cards

If you are registered and eligible to vote, you'll receive your poll card between 27 and 30 March 2026.

Your poll card will tell you where your polling station is. Your ward or polling station may have changed because of the boundary review.

Ways to vote

If you’re not able to get to the polling station, there are other ways to vote. Find out more about voting by post or by proxy, and when you need to apply.
