Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Publication Scheme

From January 2009, public authorities including councils such as Walsall are required to adopt a model publication scheme drawn up by the Information Commissioner’s Office.  The model scheme is common to all public authorities across all sectors.

The Information Commissioner’s Office has also developed a set of definition documents and guidelines to aid public authorities when developing their publication scheme.

The council is committed to operating within these guidelines issued by the ICO and has undertaken to ensure that information made available under the scheme is published via the council website. Where this is not practical, the council will seek to ensure that details are provided on the website of where this information can be obtained.
