Walsall Archive for All blog - Latest post: Could your records help tell Walsall's story?
October 2026
Have you got old photographs, letters, newsletters or records tucked away at home? Many people assume their collection is too small or not important enough for an archive. In reality, everyday records, no matter how trivial they seem, could provide valuable insights into the lives, experiences and communities that have shaped Walsall.
We are looking for any photographs, films, newsletters, minute books, programmes, posters, business records, oral histories and personal memories. No collection is too small that contributes to the preservation of our heritage, and those records could be from long in the past, or comparatively recent. All can play their past in telling Walsall’s story.
Donating records helps ensure that future generations can learn about the people, communities and experiences that have shaped Walsall. Your records accepted into the archive will be professionally preserved and, where appropriate, digitised to improve access.
If your impression has always been that archives look like this, then you are in for a surprise!
Archives are increasingly looking like this!
How we at Walsall Archives For All can help
- Discuss your records with you
- Advise whether they may be suitable for preservation
- Explain the donation process
- Arrange for records to be safely transferred
- Discuss digitisation and access opportunities
Your records. Your community. Your heritage.
