Apply for a child performance exemption certificate

Some performances are exempt from needing a licence.

You can apply for an exemption certificate if the child taking part is under school leaving age and:

• will not have performed for more than four days in the last six months, including the dates of your performance
• doesn’t need to be absent from school to take part

You must also:

• arrange suitable child safeguarding and supervision
• make sure the performance complies with Part 4 of The Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014
