Report a broken traffic light
If you spot a broken traffic light, where you report it depends on whether the lights are permanent or temporary.
When you report it, it would help if you could include:
- where it is (landmarks, house numbers or road junctions)
- the ID number (if available - this is usually on the pole or signal box)
- a description of the problem (for example, lights out, collision damage, timing issues)
Only report what you can safely see. Do not put yourself in any danger by trying to get close to the lights or the road to check details.
How to report a problem with permanent traffic lights
Permanent traffic lights are usually found at road junctions or pedestrian crossings.
Wolverhampton's Urban Traffic Control (UTC) Service is responsible for the operation, maintenance, improvement and repair of traffic lights in Walsall borough.
If you spot a traffic light that is out of order or not working properly, you can report it by email:
How to report a problem with temporary traffic lights
Temporary traffic lights are often used at roadworks or during road repairs.
If temporary traffic lights stop working, or if they are causing long delays at roadworks, you'll need to contact the company doing the works. Their name and phone number will be on the sign next to the lights.
They should send someone out to fix the problem.
