Apply for a parking dispensation
Some areas of Walsall Borough are restricted for vehicles to access, wait, load and unload. Under some circumstances, we can grant a dispensation. Reasons may include emergency repairs or building works.
A dispensation allows you to temporarily access, or park within, some restricted areas. For example:
- limited wait bays
- single yellow lines
- double yellow lines
- permit parking bays
- loading areas
We will only issue dispensations for pedestrian areas, red routes and loading ban areas under exceptional circumstances.
Eligibility criteria and limitations
There must be no other reasonable alternative available. This depends on the time, location and parking restriction.
We do not guarantee a space in the area requested for dispensation. We may offer an alternative location nearby.
We can refuse an application if, in our opinion:
- it's not necessary
- the vehicle is not essential to the work
Vehicles used for personal travel to and from a work site, or as a storage facility, are not eligible.
- Due to traffic sensitive areas, the dispensation permit may not be valid during busy times
- This is not a general dispensation and is only used in respect of the vehicle, and/or bays, periods and purposes shown
- Materials and goods must not be deposited on the footway or carriageway (except to the immediate rear of the vehicle); nor shall they be passed across any part of the footway or carriageway in any manner which may interfere with the safety of pedestrians and/or other vehicles
- The motorist must move the vehicle elsewhere and within the regulations once the purpose stated has been accomplished
- The applicant/driver must move the vehicle if so, directed by a Police Officer or an employee of Walsall Council Parking Services
- The applicant/driver must park safely at all times and not obstruct access to footways, tactile dropped kerbs, side roads and/or adjacent premises.
