King George V Memorial playing fields

The site opened in 1937 to give local residents a much needed space to play sports. Today, the site offers a wide variety of sports and activities. An accessible junior park run takes place on Sunday mornings for children aged 4 to 14 years and their parents.

Facilities and features

Accessibility

The site has hard, flat, tarmac-surfaced paths, which are suitable for wheelchair users, people with mobility impairments and pushchairs. Most access gates are wide enough for wheelchairs, except the gates at Bealeys Lane and Catches Drive which are only 900mm wide. Pathways are at least 1100mm wide and many are 1500 to 2000mm wide to allow for turning.

There are 10 benches spread around the park to allow for rest if walking around the perimeter.

There is a radar key accessible toilet (at least 2.2m X 1.5m wide) with an outward opening door on site. It has a corner layout, grab rails and is accessible with a left hand transfer with both a fixed and a drop rail. The wash basin includes a lever tap. These facilities also include a hand dryer and an easily-accessible emergency pull cord.
