Barr Beacon Local Nature Reserve

One of the highest points in the West Midlands, Barr Beacon offers spectacular views. Landmarks visible from the top include the Wrekin, Cannock Chase, Lichfield Cathedral, Birmingham city centre, and the Lickey Hills. This site is great for health walks, dog walking, picnics and geology. Follow the Beacon Way or the circular walk. The site also has an orienteering trail.

Barr Beacon also has a war memorial to honour those who died in the First and Second World Wars. 

It is also a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR).

Accessibility

Grass walking tracks, with gradients. Some hard surface paths.

Butterflies, bees, birds and rabbits.

Getting to Barr Beacon

The nearest bus stops are:

  • Beacon Road (Bridle Lane) for buses 934 and 936
  • Sutton Road (Barr Beacon Cross Roads) for buses 25, 77, 705, 788 and 935 platinum

There are two large car parks that you can get to from Beacon Road. View the car park opening times.

Location

Beacon Road, Streetly, Walsall, WS9 0QN for the northern car park to the site and WS9 0QR for the southern car park. These are rough postcodes due to the nature of the site having few addresses nearby, please do check before your journey.
