Walsall Council celebrates Occupational Therapy Week 2026
Published on
Walsall Council is celebrating the vital work of its occupational therapy service during Occupational Therapy Week 2026, which runs from Monday 2 to Sunday 8 November.
This year’s national campaign, Participation Changes Everything, highlights the important role occupational therapists play in helping people take part in the everyday activities that matter to them, supporting their independence, health and wellbeing.
“ Occupational therapy plays an important role in helping people live more independently and enjoy the activities that matter most to them.
Whether it’s making everyday tasks easier, adapting someone’s home or helping them find new ways to overcome challenges, our occupational therapy team makes a real difference to people’s lives.
Occupational Therapy Week is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and expertise of our staff and highlight the support available to residents across the borough, helping people maintain their independence and live well in their own communities “
Occupational therapists are skilled professionals who help people overcome challenges and participate in everyday activities as independently as possible. Their work can support people of different ages and needs, helping them develop or regain skills, manage daily tasks and continue doing the things that are important to them.
Support may include recommending specialist equipment, arranging adaptations to homes or helping people find different ways to carry out everyday activities. The approach focuses on each person’s individual needs and goals, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.
Walsall Council’s occupational therapy service assesses residents’ needs and helps identify practical solutions to support independent living. Assessments for low-level equipment and adaptations can take place at the Goscote Centre in Walsall or in a person’s home, depending on their needs.
Occupational Therapy Week provides an opportunity to recognise the positive impact of this work and highlight how the right support can help people remain active, participate in their communities and continue doing the things that matter to them.
