This initiative will officially kick off on June 3, and is aimed at encouraging residents to explore Walsall’s scenic cycling hubs and discover the joys of biking.

The “On Ya Bike” Programme highlights the extensive range of cycling activities available at various cycling hubs situated throughout Walsall. These hubs, equipped with bikes provided free of charge, are accessible to all and aim to foster a cycling-friendly community.

Thanks to funding from Beat the Street, the Healthy Spaces Team, in partnership with Cycling UK, the council has established six new cycling hub sites in different parks across Walsall. These hubs are operated by dedicated volunteers and offer activities for cyclists of all skill levels, including family rides, women-only rides, and bike maintenance workshops.

“ "We are excited to launch the 'On Ya Bike' Programme on World Bicycle Day.

"This initiative not only promotes physical activity but also brings our community together through the shared love of cycling.

"We invite residents to join us in exploring Walsall on two wheels. A comprehensive leaflet will be distributed across Walsall’s cycling hubs and other locations, detailing everything residents need to know about cycling in the borough.

"This includes points of interest along the Walsall Canal, a list of parks and picnic sites, and more.

“We’d like to thank our trusted in partners Cycling UK, Triathlon UK, and the Canal & Rivers Trust for their help in making this launch possible. “

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Wellbeing, Leisure, and Public Spaces at Walsall Council,
