Summer events inspire residents to try new activities and sports
Published on
A series of events across the Walsall borough this summer has attracted over 500 residents to try new and exciting sports and activities.
The ‘Tri-It Walsall’ events, which were in its third year running, took place at parks and greenspaces in Bloxwich, Pleck, Pheasey and Willenhall.
The events fostered a sense of unity through sports and wellbeing activities, such as archery, boxing, cycling and weightlifting. They provided a platform for meaningful engagement with the community, allowing residents to connect and receive valuable information from local organisations and support services.
Families and children also had the experience of the splashpads at King George V Playing Fields in Bloxwich and Willenhall Memorial Park, which have been open throughout the summer.
“ The success of the Tri-It programme, marked by the high attendance and community involvement, reflects our commitment to health and wellbeing, providing residents with opportunities to try new activities and sports. Such events are pivotal in inspiring the community to lead active and fulfilling lives.
Our Healthy Spaces team continue to run free activities and programmes for residents to get involved in, so please have a look at their upcoming offers from September on our website or through the Walsall Healthy Spaces Facebook page. “
A free, 12-week Couch to 5K programme will launch from 10 September 2024 at locations across the borough including Bloxwich, Oak Park, Pelsall, Walsall Arboretum and Willenhall Memorial Park. The programme is designed to help anyone looking to get active, improve their fitness and be part of a supportive community.
