Eligible families were able to book activities from 27 November, and since, more than 2200 places have been booked onto the hugely successful scheme, for activities running between 2 and 5 January 2024.

The council has worked with over 70 providers in the borough to offer children and young people, fun, locally-based activities, while providing the opportunity for learning and developing new skills.

As part of the programme, children are also given the opportunity to try out healthy and exciting recipes with their family.

The programme is aimed at children and young people ages 5 to 16 years, eligible for free school meals to offer healthy food and enriching activities for one week over the Easter break, for four weeks during the summer holidays and for a week over Christmas 2023/2024 holidays.

“ The ever-popular HAF provision is back, and we’re pleased be offering sessions for families that need it the most.

Our providers work hard to offer and deliver fun learning activities for the children and young people in the borough and have actively responded to feedback from parents and children to ensure that the needs of children and young people are met, including provisions for young people with additional needs. “

Councillor Stacie Elson, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services
Walsall Council

The winter session will take place from Tuesday 2 January to Friday 5 January 2024.

Further information and details of how to register on the programme are available on the HAF website.
