This donation came about via Morgan Sindall’s project team working with EMR Group to recycle scrap materials from the site during construction works.

“ It’s fantastic to see that our new facility is recycling even before it’s opened.
Acorns is very dear to my own heart, as the wonderful team here provided dedicated support to my son during his lifetime and to the rest of our family.

At a meeting of full council in September I submitted a Notice of Motion which received unanimous support, calling on the government to provide certainty for hospices like Acorns as they provide a lifeline in the most desperate of times to hundreds upon hundreds of families in the region. “

Councillor Kerry Murphy, Portfoli Holder for Street Pride
Walsall Council

“ At the heart of our company ethos is a commitment to enhancing the communities in which we work, creating a lasting and sustainable legacy.

Having been shown around this wonderful facility, it’s clear that we chose an extremely special and well-loved local cause which does so much to bring hope and joy to so many children and their families.

Andrew Clayton, Social Value Manager
Morgan Sindall Construction

“ At EMR, our communities matter as much as our customers and suppliers and we work to positively contribute to the health of the vibrant communities in which we live and work.

By partnering with Morgan Sindall, an organisation that shares our vision for local change, we can be a catalyst for social change and make a meaningful difference to our neighbours. This project has provided a great opportunity to support Acorns Children’s Hospice, whose work brings comfort and hope to so many families. We're proud to be part of this effort and honoured to contribute to such an incredible cause. “

Ben Taylor, Sector Head for Utilities & Construction
EMR

“ We’re incredibly proud that our collaboration with EMR Group has not only supported the recycling efforts of this important project but has also contributed to such a meaningful cause.

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides invaluable care to children and families during their toughest times, and it’s a privilege to be able to support their work in this way.

Over 1,000 committed volunteers work in Acorns’ shops, hospices and at fundraising events. The charity states that it simply wouldn’t be able to continue without them, the people taking part in sponsored runs, bake sales or sky-dives; partnerships with local businesses and sports teams; or loose change in collection tins. “

Steven Woodcock, Project Manager
Morgan Sindall Construction

“ We’re extremely grateful for this very generous donation of £3,067.20. At Acorns, sustainability is a priority for our charity, and this is a wonderful example of how recycling can not only support the environment, but also ensure seriously ill children and their families get the vital care and support they need.

Two-thirds of the £9,000 it costs to run our hospice in Walsall for an entire day comes from generous donations and fundraising by our local community, so this will make a real difference to the hundreds of children and families across the Black Country who rely on our lifeline care and support.

But there are many more families across our region who need us, and help can’t wait. Only with the help of fantastic organisations like this coming together and supporting Acorns can we be there for them all. “

Vicki Rowles, Director of Fundraising
