Licensing enforcement

The Licensing Enforcement team enforce various pieces of legislation relating to public safety.  These include:

The safe operation of taxis, including hackney carriages, private hire vehicles, their drivers and base operators

Compliance with the Licensing Act 2003 by premises who sell alcohol, provide regulated entertainment or who provide late night refreshments

Regulation of premises used for gambling under the Gambling Act 2005

Compliance of street traders with their licences

Certain highway obstructions, damage and danger on the highway

We provide guidance on how to comply with the legal requirements of the above areas of public safety.  Please contact us (details below) for information and advice.  However, non-compliance with the law can lead to formal enforcement action being taken including prosecution.
