Green Homes energy efficiency funding
The Green Homes Grant, including the Local Authority Delivery Scheme and Home Upgrade Grant, are government schemes, delivered by local authorities, to improve the energy efficiency of eligible homes. The schemes can help private owner occupied households and private rented properties.
Help for homes with gas central heating
If your home is heated with gas central heating you may be eligible to apply for home improvements via the government’s Local Authority Delivery Scheme.
Improvements can include:
- solar panels
- external wall insulation
- loft insulation
- cavity insulation
To be eligible you must:
- own your own home
- have an EPC energy efficiency rating of D,E,F or G. Check your Energy Performance Certificate.
- Have a household income of less than £31,000.
Demand for help is expected to be very high so early application is recommended. Applications for this funding will close on 30 September 2023.
How to apply for Local Authority Delivery Scheme funding

Help for homes without gas central heating e.g electric storage heaters
If you use other types of heating such as electric storage heaters, or have no gas central heating in your home you may be eligible to apply for home improvements via the government’s Home Upgrade Grant.
These include:
- solar panels
- external wall insulation
- loft insulation
- cavity insulation
- Air source heat pumps
- Infra-red heaters, quantum heaters/ high heat retention storage heaters
You may be eligible to apply if you own your own home in Walsall and:
- use electric heaters or have no gas central heating
- have an EPC energy efficiency rating of D,E,F or G. Check your Energy Performance Certificate.
- Have a household income of less than £31,000
Demand for help is expected to be very high so early application is recommended. Applications for this funding will close on 31 March 2025.

Property suitability assessment
You may meet eligibility requirements for help from the scheme but unfortunately not all homes are suitable for certain energy efficiency measures. Your property will be assessed to make sure it’s suitable for retro-fit energy efficiency measures before any work is approved to be carried out.
