First Homes scheme
If you're a first time buyer, you may be able to get a discount on the value of a property. You can find out more about the scheme, including who's eligible, on the government's website. For the purpose of First Homes, Walsall Council defines a keyworker as someone who works for the NHS.
Housing stock
We conducted a survey of the borough's housing stock in 2019. This provided us with information about a property's:
- type
- size
- age
- required repairs
- energy rating
- occupied status, i.e. whether it's rented or the owner lives there
