Get an assessment for a care home

If you think you need care, you can talk to us and ask for an assessment. You're entitled to an assessment even if you plan to fund the care yourself. This will help you choose the support that is best for you.

An assessment does not cost anything and anyone can have one.

Get an assessment

The assessment will be a conversation between you and a social worker. You can have a partner, family, friend or other representative support you for this.

What to expect from the assessment

The assessment should make it clear what the best support for you is. This might be a care home or another type of support, like care in your own home.

If the outcome is a care home, you will have a choice in provider and location. You should ask about costs before choosing.

We can also assess you financially to see how much you would need to pay, and how we could help with costs.

We will help you in the process of moving into residential care if this is what will best meet your needs.
