Registering your nursery or other daycare organisation
You will need to register your daycare if you want to look after children aged between birth and the 31 August following their fifth birthday and you will be doing this in:
- somewhere other than in someone’s home
- someone’s home where 4 or more adults will be working with the children at the same time

Become a childminder or nanny
If you want to be paid to look after children under 8, you might need to register with Ofsted or a childminder agency.

Providing childcare in Walsall
Ofsted will notify us when you have registered your childcare setting with them. We'll contact you to welcome you as a childcare provider in Walsall and to also register your setting with us and our Early Years Team.
As a childcare provider in Walsall you'll get:
- A Provider Agreement which sets out your responsibilities as a childcare provider and what you can expect from us
- access to our Provider Portal. This is where you can submit your funding claims and find lots of information to help your setting
- funding timetables so you know when to submit funding claims
- headcount and census dates
- funding rates information
- a dedicated Early Years Improvement Officer who will visit your setting up to three times a year, to share information, advice and training
- access to ongoing training to develop skills and knowledge in your setting
- help to promote the childcare you have on offer
