Relationship support for care leavers
As well as the support you'll get from your personal adviser, we may be able to offer you practical and emotional support.
The TLC Hub offers lots of events, activities and clubs. They include sports, cooking, CV writing, arts and crafts and more. We'd appreciate any ideas that you may have for future activities. Please share these with your personal adviser and children’s champion.
How you want to identify
If you want us to use certain pronouns or do something to make you feel more comfortable, just let us know. We value you and respect your identity.
Your PA can help you link in with social and support groups if you wish to explore your identity (for example, your race, culture, gender, or sexuality) further.
We can also help you access specialist support services to help you to affirm your identity. We can give advice on legal name change if this is something that's important to you.
Keeping in touch with people who are important to you
We'll help you to keep in touch with your family and close friends. We can help you to plan how to spend time with them.
We may also be able to support you with transport costs to visit people who are important to you. Speak to your social worker or PA about this as requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Reconnecting with people from your past
Talk to your PA if you'd like our support to reconnect with people from your past. They could be family, friends, previous carers, or other people who were important to you. We can support you through this journey.
You might want us to act as an intermediary to start with. This means you don't give out your personal details - you use your worker and our office address as the contact point for the other person. It can give you time to work through your thoughts and feelings before making direct contact.
