Apply for a skin piercing licence

You must register your skin piercing businesses with us if you carry out:

• tattooing
• semi-permanent skin colouring
• cosmetic piercing
• electrolysis
• acupuncture

The registration fee is currently £130 per person.

Your registration won't expire, but you will need to register again if you change premises. Register your skin piercing business with us online. You will need to provide a passport photo for each applicant.

What happens next

Once we've received your application, one of our team will visit your business' premises. This so we can review the conditions on site and talk to you about your application.

We will then give you a certificate that means you can lawfully work in Walsall Borough.

What happens if I don't have a licence

It is illegal to do any skin piercing activities without being registered with us. If you do, you could face a penalty on conviction of £1000.
