Get a permit to collect for charity
You need a permit to make a collection for a charitable cause in a public space. A charitable collection can involve either:
- taking money
- selling articles for the benefit of a charity
- accepting donated items
Charities can have two collections a year, each lasting no longer than one day. We don't let more than one organisation collect in the same area on the same date.

You can book a date for your collection by phone. We will keep this date reserved for you for 14 days. If we don't receive your application form in this time, we can give your date to someone else.
You don't have to pay a permit fee, but you will need to publish an account of your collection's proceeds.
