You need a permit if you want to collect money or goods from people’s homes for charity. Charities can request an exemption certificate for their workers from the Home Office.

How to apply

Complete our house-to-house collections application form and send this to us. We'll need to receive this at least one month before the date you'll be collecting on. We can grant borough-wide permits that last for up to 12 months.

You can book a date for your collection by phone. We will keep this date reserved for you for 14 days. If we don't receive your application form in this time, we can give your date to someone else.

You don't have to pay for a permit, but you must buy and wear a badge issued by Her Majesty's Stationery Office.
