Child naming ceremonies

A naming ceremony is a non-religious way for you to welcome a child into the family. We work with you to make your ceremony special for you and your family.

Any parent, legal guardian or person who has parental responsibility for the child or children may arrange a ceremony.

The ceremony has no legal standing but it is an opportunity for a public gesture of love and support for your child. 

Book a naming ceremony

You can hold a ceremony at:

• one of the venues at the register office
• an approved premise within the borough
