Online services for Housing Benefit and council tax reduction
You can use our online service at any time to manage your Housing Benefit and council tax reduction (CTR).
The service works on a mobile phone, tablet or computer and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What you can do online
Use the online service to:
- apply for Housing Benefit
- apply for CTR
- tell us about a change in your circumstances, or if you’ve moved
- upload evidence for your new application, change in circumstances or in support of your request for a reconsideration/appeal
- view decision letters for Housing Benefit
- pay back an overpayment
Before you start
You'll need:
- a valid email address
- access to your emails whilst completing the form
We will email you a Citizen Access benefits key (sometimes called a tracking reference number). This is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown in the email.
If you can’t find the email, check your junk or spam folder.
If you forget your key, select the 'retrieve a claim I have started' option and go to ‘forgotten your citizens’ access benefits key?’ at the bottom of the page.
