Business Growth Strategy - Introduction
The Strategy sets out the borough’s ambitions for Business Growth within Walsall. It provides the Council with flexibility to support and influence regional and national programmes, identify gaps in the business support offer and explore local solutions to enhance existing provision. It forms a key part of the Business and Innovation pillar of the overall Walsall Economic Framework.
Walsall Council, and our partners will play an important role in achieving local growth, with several levers at its disposal whilst recognising the borough sits within a wider West Midlands economy presenting further opportunities. The Strategy aligns closely with 2025-2035 West Midlands Growth Plan, which directly contributes to the Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy.
These two critical strategies will set the tone for economic development for the next five years and beyond and will shape how we should proceed. The Comprehensive Spending Review 2025 and the ongoing work to establish new business support and inward investment structures for the region will determine the resources available and the division of responsibilities across the region. Since the original drafting of the Strategy, the new Economic Development Vehicle (EDV) has commenced operation and this Strategy provides a framework to respond to and shape the newly evolved landscape of business growth support provision.
