Educational visits

Educational visits are valuable because they:

  • allow pupils to experience things that are not possible in the classroom
  • can build confidence and independence in a child
  • can help them understand a subject

Visits can include:

  • going to a local museum
  • day trips further afield (for example, to see an historical site)
  • going abroad
  • staying at an activity centre, for up to two weeks

There will usually be a cost involved. The school will give you full details about any trips your children attend.

Outings, particularly those involving activities, do have a risk factor. Accidents are rare, and organisers will always take the necessary precautions. If you are worried about an educational visit, you should contact your child's head teacher to talk about it.
