Willenhall Memorial Park’s playground and splash pad have had a deep clean thanks to volunteers from Hazclear Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management Services.

The work was carried out as part of Walsall Council’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which gives local businesses the opportunity to use their skills and expertise to support projects that benefit communities across the borough.

Using specialist cleaning equipment, the team removed a build-up of moss from the splash pad and beneath the climbing frame in the children’s play area. The deep clean has left the surfaces looking fresher and cleaner, helping to give these popular facilities a new lease of life.

Councillor Matt Eason, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing, said, “It’s great to see local businesses giving their time and expertise to benefit our communities.

“Hazclear’s work at Willenhall Memorial Park is a great example of how businesses can make a positive difference to our parks and green spaces, helping to keep them enjoyable places for residents and families to spend time together.”

Mark Hickman, Healthy Spaces Community Officer, said, “When local businesses choose to invest their time and expertise back into their communities, the results can be truly inspiring. Hazclear approached us with a genuine desire to make a difference, and the improvements made to the park and splash pad speak for themselves.

"Their support is a great example of how collaboration can help us deliver on the We Are Walsall 2040 vision and create places that residents can be proud of.”

Scott Sjoerdsma, Hazclear Director, said, "As a local business, we’re proud to be able to use our expertise and specialist equipment to give something back to the community.

"Willenhall Memorial Park is an important space for local families including my own family, and we’re pleased to have played a part in making the playground and splash pad cleaner and more welcoming for everyone to enjoy. We’d like to thank Walsall Council for the opportunity to get involved, and we look forward to supporting more initiatives that make a positive difference to our local communities."

This latest activity follows a series of community improvement projects delivered through the programme, which has seen volunteers from local organisations support park maintenance and environmental works across the borough, including habitat management, litter clearance and path restoration.

The work forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain Walsall’s parks and green spaces as clean, welcoming places for residents to enjoy.
