Willenhall Market closed due to high winds

Published on

Willenhall Market will be closed on Wednesday 20 September and Thursday 21 September 2023 due to forecast high winds of 35 miles per hour and above.

Walsall Council has taken the decision to close the market in the interests of health and safety for staff, traders, and the public as the market stalls are modular and freestanding.

“ We understand that the temporary closure of Willenhall Market on Wednesday 20 September will be disheartening for traders and customers alike, but we have taken this decision in the interests of safety of the traders and the public.

The forecast high winds could pose a significant risk to the market stalls and the people who use them. Safety is our utmost concern, so we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel the market. We appreciate the understanding of the public and apologise for any inconveniences caused. “

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration
Walsall Council

Walsall Market is scheduled to reopen on Friday 22 September 2023.
